Fall 2010 Classroom Guidance

In Kindergarten we continue to learn about feelings and showing others we care. In November we are learning about intentions. We will learn how to tell if something was done by accident or on purpose, and what to do if you accidently hurt someone.

In First grade we learned how to identify how another person is feeling. Research shows if students can read other kids’ feelings in various social situations they are more likely to make positive choices and keep friends. In November we are going to learn ways that we can calm down from strong feelings.

In Second grade and Third grade we learned recently how powerful our words are and why we should be careful with them. We also learned that working together as a team can make a big difference. Next we will be learning how to calm ourselves down and stay in control when we get angry. We will be learning about problem solving and how we can make our own problems bigger or smaller.
